Metalcam S.p.A. operates in Breno in the province of Brescia (Italy), a zone where ironworking has a centuries-old tradition. Metalcam produces produces forgings for a wide variety of business branches.
Historically the company descends from two firms:
- Carlo Tassara, an electric iron metallurgy firm active in Breno since 1919 producing steel and iron alloys;
- Metallurgica Valle Camonica, dedicated to forging in Malegno since 1907.
They merged in 1960 when Carlo Tassara brought both production systems together at its main Breno plant.
With the passage of time Carlo Tassara diversified to become a financial holding company at the head of various industrial and financial group activities.
The current manufacturing company was officially founded in 1986 with the abbreviated historic name Metalcam.
In 1996 Metalcam, to boost production capacity, purchased a firm in the same industry, Breda Fucine in Sesto S.Giovanni (Milan). This firm dealt mainly with production of forgings for the petrochemical and armaments industry.
In 1997 Metalcam developed production capacity abroad by purchasing the Schmiedetechnik Carl Vorlaender GmbH in Hilchenbach (Germany).
The Schmiedetechnik Carl Vorlaender, founded in 1337, is specialized in manufacturing medium-small forgings and rolled rings and represents an ideal complement Metalcam's production capacity.
